BLACKPOOL PLEASURE BEACH

Blackpool became as tourist destination during the Victorian era. The pleasure beach started on the south shore beach. Today the Pleasure Beach is a large attraction filled area by the sea. There are roller coasters everywhere. Everything is crammed in on top of something else. Not piece of land is left, but somehow new rides are always added.

There are 10 coasters to choose from. The UK's tallest, The Big One dominates the horizon from the outskirts of Blackpool. This ride is fast and fun.

There are several wooden roller coasters - The Grand National (one of my all time favourites) which is a racing coaster,

Infusion

 the Big Dipper,

The Wild Mouse (I think one of the scariest-but looks so tame from the outside)

The Avalanche is a bobsleigh coaster

and the steeplechase is possible a unique roller coaster where riders sit on a 'horse'

and complete a track based on a steeplechase.

The Roller Coaster is another classic wooden coaster

The Revolution is a launched looping coaster.

The zipper dipper is the children's wooden coaster. Its three drops and your back to the loading station. How you are meant to squeeze two adults into the seats I don't know, maybe because its meant for children could be the answer to that one. Adults can ride it without a child but its only worth it if you buy a wristband and you want to be able to say that you have ridden ALL the coasters at Blackpool

The Space Invaders is a coaster in the dark, but not a great one and has a deceptively long queue line.

There is a Space Shot ride that keeps changing its name depending on who sponsors it but I still call it the Playstation.

Valhalla water/dark ride.

Bling

There are plenty of family rides too.

There is Alice in Wonderland where you are taken into wonderland aboard a Cheshire cat.

The ghost train at Blackpool is in my opinion one of the best in the country.

On the Derby Racer you ride a horse like on a carousel but the go faster.

The mine train ride is good fun taking through the mines and this ride partly entwines the river boat ride, both going through one of the eating areas in the pleasure beach.

The mirror maze and haunted swing were joined together to create Impossible. The Haunted swing is a classic wooden seated one, but not up to today's larger ones.

There is a walk through ghost house called the Trauma Towers which is good fun.

The sunset at Blackpool can be stunning too making a good end to a day of coasting.

Rides come and go at Blackpool. Here a few that have gone in the last few years.
