Cedar Point is the coaster capital of the world with 17 coasters to date in 2008. Cedar Point is in Sandusky Ohio. It is on a peninsula reaching out into Lake Erie, which gives it some stunning views and settings. It remains quiet a green park by leaving many trees untouched amongst all the rides which not only makes the park look great it adds to the ride experience.
Cedar point has set many records in its time, being the first to have the a roller coaster at over 200 foot, then 300 foot, and then 400 foot. It also had the tallest wooden coaster at one stage, the longest steel coaster in the world and not yet beaten the most number of coasters in one park.
Top Thrill Dragster
The Top Thrill Dragster towers over many, but not all of the rides at Cedar Point.
Its stands at 420 foot high, does 0 - 120 mph in four seconds but its not a ride just about statistics. It a ride about fun and thrill too. Its starts with the pre launch. There is the sound of a dragster wanting to launch and the lights turn amber so its nearly time. There is 42 stories high of steel in front, waiting.
Lights green and we are off.
What a start, the G force pushing you into the chair, the wind rushing past your ears getting ever louder by the millisecond, and we are only 2 seconds into the ride.
At 4 seconds we are at 120 mph and the wind is really loud and you can feel in on you face. Now we are going vertical and twisting through 90 degrees.
We are already 420 foot up and the car has slowed to an almost stop giving a second or two to admire the view of Sandusky.
The car has just enough energy to keep it going forward and now there is only one choice DOWN, 420 foot down. But Cedar Point could not just let us go straight down, there is a 270 degree spiral down.
Now its through the finish line and into the brakes which are incredibly smooth.

What a ride. Short - yes. Just one drop - yes. But what a drop. What a launch. What a coaster. I had thought it may not live up to all the hype, but it out does despite all the hype and still thrills after every re-ride.
Millennium Force
The next tallest coaster is Millennium Force. This 310 foot high steel monster is a more conventional coaster with a lift hill, but even this is not ordinary due to the cable system its a fast lift to the top. The first drop is 300 foot long and you reach a speed of 93 mph. The coaster is 1.25 miles of blue steel with over banked curves. The ride goes through two tunnels and is a great fun ride, best enjoyed at the front in my opinion to gain the most out of the first drop and the weightlessness of some of the hills.
You might ask what happens if the lift hill stops. Well the answer is this little lift at the side come up with an operator in it to reassure you.
Magnum XL 200
The first coaster in the world to break the 200 foot barrier was built here. The Magnum XL 200 continued the coaster wars for the tallest anywhere in the world. This 'hyper coaster' was built back in 1988 opening in 1999 broke the record at 210 foot. This coaster led to a rush to build higher and higher all over the world, and Cedar point beating its own record twice in later years. The coaster is at the back of the park and the lift hill takes you up and over towards lake Erie, which make for some spectacular views at the top and a feeling of falling into the lake.
Raptor
Raptor is an inverted coaster, which has the usual smoothness and some great inversions. Bright green and near the entrance this coaster stands out and is very busy at park opening. A good, fast and thrilling ride.
Wicked Twister
Wicked Twister uses Linear Induction Motor (LIM) propulsion system to blast you out of the station at up to 72mph in just 2.5 seconds. First you go forward up the twist the backwards up the opposite twist. Front and back seats are best, both giving a different ride experience. This is one of my favourite steel rides.
Maverick
Blue Streak
Blue streak is a classic wooden roller coaster. Its a good fun classic ride.
Iron Dragon
Iron Dragon is a suspended coaster where you sit in the car below the track. This is like all coasters of this kind, looks more intense than the reality of the ride. Its a fun, if tame coaster.
Mantis
Mantis is a stand up roller coaster with four inversions. It has a block brake on the first drop which seems odd, but I assume its to prevent this ride being to rough on your ears. Much more of a ride then the European stand up coaster.
Mean Streak
Mean Streak is a wooden coaster that's all about size, not ride experience. It was at the time of building the worlds tallest wooden coaster. But it seems to go on and on rather than being a good ride. I would rather do any of Blackpool's woodies or Blue Streak than Mean Streak. It just does not have the usual magic of a wooden coaster.
Gemini
This racing coaster is a metal track with a wooden frame. Its was the tallest roller coaster at the time of building. It does not suffer from this title like Mean Streak does. Its fast, fun and very re-rideable. The racing element just adds to the ride experience. The only difficultly with this ride is due you choose the red or the blue car?
Cedar Creek Mine Ride
Tame. That's all I can say about this coaster.
Wild Cat
Wild Cat is a good wild mouse like ride with fast turns and fast drops. The cars are four seaters, two in the front and two in the back.
Corkscrew
The first coaster to have three inversions. The corkscrews over the midway (path) add to this ride. When it opened in 1976 this ride would have seemed amazing, but today its an average ride, but still fun to do.
Disaster Transport
Well I rode it once and that was enough for me. I think it would work better if it was more like the normal 'avalanche' style coaster.
